A different way to build a house #53 – inexpensive housing for the developing world

We may never see this type of housing in the developed world, but for the developing world this new type of housing would be a huge improvement over shacks of rusting metal and cardboard:

The video estimates a need for 740 million houses in the developing world. “That would require building 100,000 new homes every day for the next 20 years.” That is a lot of housing. Advantages of this new type of housing include:

  • Low cost
  • Lightweight materials
  • Small construction crews
  • Much quicker to erect
  • Long-lasting
  • Immune to bugs, rot, etc.
